A lightweight, stable+sturdy buggy for harsh roads and pavements & carrying up the stairs in 1 hand

16 Jul 2020

Greetings,

I am looking for a buggy for my 1yo, average-in-size son. We are currently using the Yoyo that we used before with his brother, but we bought it at a time we were living abroad and were traveling by plane regularly. It's an excellent buggy, but since the ultracompactness of it is not needed that much now - but we do need better maneuverability on higher curbs/cobblestones/harsher roads (urban, however), we are looking for a change.

Could you advise a pushchair/buggy that would meet these important criteria?
lightweight
compact enough for me to carry it on the third floor in one hand (there will be my child in the other hand)
with a stable chassis and wheels that can tackle a bit more than interiors only (I mean getting on and off a tram, broken sidewalks, etc.)

I can survive without, but I would like it to be:
with a one-handed maneuverability
with at least some storage space
good-looking

The price is not a deciding factor - and I have no problem ordering something from abroad.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hello hello!

Here, I am pretty clear on what I would get in your situation - I mean, there's nothing much better than the pretty much still ultra-compact Cybex Eezy S+2 stroller (or its first generation, the Cybex Eezy S+). It's really a great buggy not only for traveling (but that too, which is nice!) but also for everyday walks on even not-ideal roads. It's sturdy enough, spacious for a toddler, and doable even to be folded and carried up the stairs... just what you need!

From cheaper options, I would look at the CBX Etu Plus, but that is only to have something more affordable to opt for. But you say no matter the price, and the lower price reflects on the materials used, so I would still rather take the Eezy S+2.

And! If you would also be ok with something slightly larger (and more expensive), my absolute favorite quality- and foldability-wise would be the off-road talented Baby Jogger City Mini GT2. You can fold it one-handedly and then carry it up with the strap in your one hand... so that would be fine. FOr a three-wheeler, it's still lightweight and rather compact.

But the size and weight of them I will leave to your consideration - you know what is doable for you. I would, in any case, be choosing from the models mentioned above.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
