I really like the Baby Jogger City Premier, but I mind its bucket-type seat unit. My physiotherapist said it's not that good for small babies. I am searching for a pushchair that is similar in functionality (I will, if really necessary, consider a non-reversible model even) - but I do need a lay-flat seat.
Is there such a model?

Truly the same functionality to the Baby Jogger City Premier's in a lie-flat version is impossible. This is quite a unique model, combining full-size with a rather compact fold, but also a very spacious seat and high weight capacity. That is why the first I will suggest would be to stick with this choice. For a smaller baby, you can buy an insert making its surface flat - there are cocoons with padding on the bottom part just for that, for the comfort of the smallest of babies (offered by brands like Mamas&Papas - for the Sola City model originally, then you'll find such things at Stokke, Joolz, Babystyle Egg, and Quinny even offers the whole cocoon working also as a footmuff, that has the same feature for their bucket-seats...). And when the child is older, the seat won't oose any problems, in my experience as well as personal opinion. Usually, toddlers only suffer not enough space in bucket seats, and that is not a problem with this model...
If, anyhow, you are opposed to this type of seat still, I will try to list models that work very well, comparably to the BJCP: Emmaljunga NXT60 F or the more robust NXT90 F, then the more urban Mamas&Papas Ocarro, and the Concord Wanderer / Camino, or Gesslein FX4 Classic are also worth mentioning...
And if you really could live with a model that is forward-facing only, I would go with the Baby Jogger City Elite for sure - it's an excellent model, and close to the Premier in features; then also the Emmaljunga NXT30 is a good candidate.
