Baby Jogger City Elite versus TFK Joggster Trail 2 - which is better for a 15mo, city+some terrain?

23 Apr 2020

Hello, Eli.

I would like to ask which out of these two joggers would you choose. I am considering getting one of those for my 15-months-old daughter, and I cannot decide which would be more suitable. We live ina city, but I do expect the pushchair to be able to handle terrain conditions as well. I won't run or in-line skate with it. I know that the TFK is 1 kg heavier, but with the Baby Jogger, I am not sure about its width - will I be able to pass in the narrow shop aisles (since it's wider)?

Thank you for your opinion.

Hello hello!

For the use you're describing - the city as well as all-terrain - I would probably first think of the quick-folding, more lightweight Baby Jogger City Elite. It's true, it's not the narrowest of pushchairs - 67,5 cm is not negligible, but, on the other hand, it truly helps the stability of the pushchair. Also, it's less than the width of the narrower doorways (<70 cm), and normal, conventional doors (and aisles) are anyway mostly 80 cm wide, so I don't see it as a bigger problem. Looking at the other side of the coin, if the width scares you and you do need something just like that - practical, quick to handle in every way, just narrower, I would also mention the possibility of getting the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2, which is similar in functionality, more lightweight, 2,5 cm narrower.

The 1,3 kg heavier TFK Joggster Trail 2 is still very acceptable weight-wise, so I am certainly not discouraging you from that, by the way. It's an excellent jogger, extremely spacious too, and only 57 cm wide, which is actually super narrow for the type! So, if you're still tempted by the narrowness therefore agility because of its width, it's truly a good choice (and the 10 cm is truly quite a difference) . Here you have to count on quite a longer base, however - the TFK is quite a bit longer (as opposed to wider).

For me, the city use, the lower weight and the fold of BJ feels more optimal in conclusion, but I cannot actually fault any of these models. You're choosing between two fantastic three-wheeled pushchairs, so not a bad choice to make 🙂 I would probably only consider how much you actually go with the pushchair to the shops, and if their aisles are really as narrow as you're afraid of, or, on the other hand, how much you're gonna fold and load your pushchair in the car (if often, the weight and the folding system will be much more important).

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
