Oyster Zero pushchair - is its seat upright? Will it fit a short mum? Which are the alternatives?

29 Jul 2020

Greetings,

I would like to ask about the Babystyle's Oyster Zero pushchair. Is its sitting position upright? If not, what would be my alternatives for such a pushchair in this type/category/price? And I also want to know if it will be suitable for my height of 156 cm.

Thank you 😊

Hello!

To begin with, I must say the Oyster Zero's sitting position is not 100% upright. It's not brutally angled, but yeah, there's a bit of recline in the sitting position. With such a thing, you need to count on mostly with the pushchairs of a very low weight achieved, among other things, by having a strap recline. Not every one is so, but most are... It helps it's low weight and compactness. Anyhow, my sons were absolutely happy in the Oyster Zero and found its backrest upright enough.

Height-wise - you're quite short, meaning I will recommend trying it out in person for sure. I think the Oyster Zero is ideal for parents between 165-178 cm, and all other heights should be trying it out before just to be sure they will not mind the height of its (fixed) handlebar.

Alternatively, I would recommend a little heavier models with a lever-operated recline - they're usually more upright. From those strap-operated, the ABC Design Okini is actually quite upright, and there's even a handlebar adjustment, so it should suit all your needs.

Moving on, I will also recommend the Peg-Pérego brand - their pushchairs are mostly very upright… Look, for example, at the super-lightweight Tak pushchair, similar in weight to the Oyster (even though its style is quite different and it's simpler)… The Baby Jogger City Mini Zip is also a very nice option to look at. Then, the Maclaren Techno Arc could work for you; or check the Joie brand for inspiration.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
