Very rocky area + large basket => Bugaboo Cameleon2, Mamas&Papas Sola 2? Which stroller would you advise?

09 Jul 2020

Hi, I am deciding between the Bugaboo Cameleon2 and the Mamas and Papas Sola 2. Any thoughts? I live in a very rocky area and I am walking outside very often. Additionally, a large basket on the bottom is very important to me.

I'd appreciate any advice you have to offer!

Hello,

For a very rocky area and a lot of outdoor walks, I would certainly opt for something that is the sturdiest possible - meaning the size of wheels, mainly in the front, is crucial! From your choices, that would mean none - but with the extra all-terrain wheels for the Bugaboo Cameleon 2, this might be doable. I would not rely much on the reversibility of the handlebar and the driving with the rear wheels forward - the manipulation in this setup is actually really annoying and not comfortable for any longer while (I would only use it to go through deeper snow for a few meters, but otherwise, it's just too much).

The M&P Sola 2 is a very nice stroller, but very very urban and with not much suspension, so the ride on the conditions you are describing would be very hard, stiff, nor comfortable. If something from the Mamas&Papas brand, maybe the Sola City - because of the larger wheels with tires...

I would anyway more recommend getting a three-wheeler, but those don't feature reversible seats, which I think you do want. Then, something like the Baby Jogger City Premier or something from the Emmaljunga brand would work well in your situation. I will also mention the Easywalker Harvey2 with all-terrain wheels from those more stylish, part urban, part outdoorsy models; and if Bugaboo is what you like, then certainly the BGB Buffalo. And a last mention to consider - XXL basket- and larger wheels-wise, I would also look at the rather affordable Joie Versatrax.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
