Which (compact and lightweight) stroller for a small car and an apartment where's no elevator?

28 Sep 2019

We want to buy a stroller - a stroller, or an umbrella stroller - to be compact, with higher weight capacity and spacious seat. I am considering Baby Jogger City Mini Zip or Gesslein S5. It will be used for everyday walks as well as for traveling. We already have one other stroller for the case of an extreme amount of snow outside, but it is a three-wheeler, and quite bulky.

Or can you advise something else? The priorities being compactness - size and weight - we live in an apartment, and there's no elevator.

Hi,

I think the model Baby Jogger City Mini Zip would actually hit it exactly. It is really very compact, and also meets your higher weight capacity as well as sufficient space requirements. The quality of this stroller is also high - I have not met a mother who would complain about this one. I personally would absolutely choose this one, given your situation. If you, however, would prefer something with even more space, Baby Jogger City Mini GT could be the answer. City Mini GT is a little less compact if you compare the two, but still pretty much will fit into any car boot, even a smaller one. Maybe it would even replace your bulky tricycle, so you would have a spacious but compact stroller for the city as well as for some more difficult terrain, usable even in winter. Extreme amounts of snow, however, won't be handled well by any stroller.

As for the Gesslein S5, the stroller is absolutely alright good, but after folding it is quite long. It is certainly less compact than those mentioned above. I also consider the two-hand push to be quite a disadvantage - pushing a stroller with one hand is, for me, a really useful feature.

I would also check out Nuna Tavo, ABC Design Okini and Valco Snap Trend Tailormade for an inspiration. As far as the buggies go, the newer Maclaren Techno XLR with single handlebar is quite an awesome option - just not the cheapest one. Lionelo Annet Tour, if available in your country, is, on the other hand - quite cheap, also a good hybrid - kind of lightweight, but also kind of all-terrain - option.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
