Baby Jogger City Elite 2

The 2.0 maneuvering of the superpower three-wheeler
.eli
see 8 parent reviews

The Baby Jogger City Elite 2 is a continuation of the luxurious three-wheeled Baby Jogger City Elite stroller. The large, and now also slimmer wheels with no-maintenance tires of the second version also got a new, updated design. The quality of the wheels has improved as well so that the City Elite 2 can handle any terrain even smoother while being able to withstand some light jogging. The Elite 2 also introduced modern, minimalistic materials of premium quality, released in neutral shades of gray and black.

The non-reversible seat is incredibly spacious. Thanks to the higher weight capacity of up to 34 kg, the stroller can handle even a bigger toddler (and often is used for larger children with special needs). The backrest, as well as the leg rest, can be fully adjusted up to a full recline. The seat is also suitable for young babies. However, it is probably a better idea to use the soft carrycot or a newborn insert for your newborn. Using adapters, a car seat, the Deluxe carrycot or the foldable Compact carrycot can be added so that you can use the Elite 2 as a full-featured stroller system from birth. All accessories, including a bumper bar and a child tray, have to be purchased separately.

  • Folds compact
  • Folds easily, one handed
  • Lightweight
  • Works well on all terrain
  • Not parent facing
  • The fantastic wheels are a little wide, can’t get it through my front door. They’re wider than the buggy so I misjudge what I can for through often

This is the most compact folding all terrain chassis on the market. I manage to get the pram into the boot of my 3 door Nissan Micra with room to spare and can still go for walks in the forest. This was the only buggy I could find to fit these requirements.

Pushes like a dream

Feels so easy to push... I love that, truly, it pushes like a dream. Tried the Uppababy Cruz and that was much harder.

It's a tank for almost any situation

The huge seat will last (almost) forever :-) It's a tank for almost any situation. I wouldn't change it (even if it's a bit bulky)!

I can rely on this pushchair

  • hih-quality

  • the hood slightly faded after being exposed to direct sunlight a lot (we are always outside)

We use it with our special needs girl. It's very spacious and high-quality. I can rely on this pushchair - and therefore recommend it to anyone. It's completely worth the price tag.

I have owned many prams with my many kids, and I have finally found the one I am going to stick with. It's a workhorse you can rely on in every way.

The Baby Jogger City Elite2 looks sleek, stylish, and a bit sporty thanks to those godly, three all-terrain wheels. The folding system is fast, easy, and works well with anybody who tried it. Pushing it is even easier, even with only one hand. The weight capacity allows me to "overload" it without actually overloading it. Easy-to-clean fabrics make my life easier as well, and the canopy is large to cover the whole child - plus, there is ventilation to not worry about overheating.

Overall, a beautiful pram I can recommend to anybody!

It's the best! Goes anywhere and through anything, no breakages, no punctures, no problems. I appreciate that the front wheels swivels when it's needed, and can be locked when going through rocks or other such surfaces. The push is fuss-free, and so is the fold. My shoes - and my feet in sandals - are super grateful for the hand-operated brake. The harness buckle also works well, it's secure, and the child doesn't undo it easily. Fabrics maintenance is easy, and the hood is well made too, coverage as well as air-flow-wise. It will last you for the entire stroller time with your child and lasts for the next children as well (and you will probably sell it afterward for it to serve somebody else's children some more ;-)).

So spacious! And very functional. I love it. As a fashion-conscious person, I would just maybe make it prettier - but I eventually always go for functionality over style, as I learned with time.

A beautiful and super-high-quality three wheeler. 100% satisfied and recommending this pushchair. I had the older version as well, and they're just the most spacious and best to push.

Your questions about the Baby Jogger City Elite 2

1)

Hi,

I already have a City Elite 1 from my first 2 kids and love it, it’s also still in good condition so I will be using it again for my new baby.

Will the accessories for the City Elite 2 fit the City Elite? I’m particularly looking at the under stroller basket, the belly bar.

Thanks for your help.

Hey, Jordy,

I won't make you too happy but no, the bumper bar for the child won't fit - isn't interchangeable between the Elite & Elite 2, the attachment system changed. The same goes fot the basket, before, it was attached around the bars, and the newer model went for a sleeker, less visible solution, meaning the older Elite won't have those attachment points, I am sorry.

Maybe with some alterations, the basket somehow could fit, as the size is similar, but it will need some sewing or other changes to be able to attach it. I would suggest browsing eBay or other classifieds for the original accessories, even if preowned, though.

I'm looking for an upright stroller for my curious toddler. Is there a Babyjogger (or maybe Thule) model that's more upright than others? I love how these look and feel vs. a Bugaboo or Uppa that might be less reclined.

Hey, Ellevation,

Unfortunately the Baby Joggers nor the Thule strollers are upright. Actually, Thule being the worse off, being really slanted, while the BJs are OK but not completely upright. The space, handing, and all-terrain capabilities are, in my opinion, worth it even if not a completely upright seat.

Hi,

How does the Elite 1 differ to the Elite 2 pushchair? I have been recommended the Elite one for my ASD daughter, as I was told it can withstand if my child was to thrash around in the pram during a meltdown and wouldn't tip over. Currently struggling to find something within my budget but also safe for us to use when out with our daughter.

Hey, Resh,

Both the City Elite and the City Elite 2 are good strollers. If your child is not a very small baby anymore, the older version should be just fine for you as well.

About the differences, the main difference is in the wheels - the newer version has slimmer ones with maintenance-free tires. Baby Jogger says they also upgraded the wheels' quality. The Elite 2 also has this newer, modern, sleek, premium fabric material.

All in all, yes, the Elite 2 is updated, but that doesn't make the Elite 1 bad, not at all. If you buy a pre-owned one in very good condition, you'll be happy with it, I believe.

Hi Eli. I was wondering if you could tell me the dimensions of the City Elite folded and without the wheels…?

Hi, Fakhira,

I must say I don't have the exact dimensions without wheels, I am sorry. Making an educated guess, though, the 85 cm x 67 cm x 35 cm will diminish to about 80 x 51 x 33, though I am just estimating this. The fold will be only slightly flatter, though considerably narrower after removing the wheels.

I have been offered a used City Elite Single. I already have a Maxi-Cosi Mico Max infant car seat. Are the two compatible and, if yes, where can I purchase an adapter? Thank you!

Pat

Hi there,

Pretty much any Maxi-Cosi 0+ car seat should be compatible with the City Elite with adapters. The availability is, however, questionable - though I believe you will either get the adaptors OR the info where to get them at Baby Jogger's website https://www.babyjogger.com/support/contact-us otherwise, only browsing eBay could help).

You write “Using adapters, a car seat, the Deluxe carrycot or the foldable Compact carrycot can be added” which adapters am I looking for to be able to use the other carrycots? My 6 month old loves to sit upright and, using a harness, this would work in a carrycot until she is too heavy but, I can’t find this information anywhere. I can’t work out what adapters to buy. Baby Jogger only has the one carrycot listed on their website as compatible and at £200+ I’d rather buy second hand but they aren’t available.

Are there any other options to make this parent facing beyond 6 months? Can you get adapters to work with other products apart from the car seat? Thanks :)

Hiya, Nat!

I should start with stating the fact that you shouldn't be using a carrycot if your child is starting to sit up, it is a safety hazard. Also, a child over 9kg shouldn't be using a bassinet as well. The carrycot harness is not that secure as a seat unit's. I am not trying to be negative, but I am pretty sure you wouldn't want your baby to fall out of your pram, and it, unfortunately, does happen.

Next in line, the adaptors you need are nowhere to be found at this time, I am not sure why. My guess is they are supplying them with the carrycot as that is still available (https://www.babyjogger.eu/en/accesories/city-elite-2-carrycot-346) - I would contact any seller of this, or directly the manufacturer's customer service, asking to be informed if the adaptor set is already included as it is not sold separately.

However, with the Maxi-Cosi-type car seat adapters (like these, click!), you can add not only a car seat (which is probably the better option anyway) but also a few carrycots - e.g., the Cot To Go from Cybex attaches on these adapters. So that is another option to put on a bassinet. (I would still rather use a spacious car seat here, ie. a Maxi-Cosi Cabrio is a large one)

Hope I helped! I mean, it seems to me that the thing you actually need is a reversible-seat stroller. Your baby at 6mo is large enough not to use the carrycot anymore and the car seat is not the comfiest option, usually (if not a reclinable one...). Perhaps your need can actually be covered by at least a temporary reversible model, even a pre-owned second-hand one would do for those few months... Think about it. I wish you all the best.

We're looking for a stroller for two kids, a new born and a 2 years old. We don't really want a two-seat stroller, so maybe a Baby Jogger Elite 2 with the standing board will be fine? Just wondering how difficult for a small mom will be to push it? Or do you have any other suggestions?

We would like to have an all terrain stroller because we like hiking.

Hello, Tizhen,

You are thinking well, and the City Elite 2 is certainly a quality option for an all-terrain ride and a good pushing experience. Be aware, however, that a sibling board will make the steering harder in any case, with any stroller, and, also, for a shorter mum, also. Additionally, a kiddy ride will also make the stroller experience less all-terrain, always, no matter the stroller, as it has smaller wheels and is an extra load in the rear, making you walk with shorter steps. I summed up a lot about add-on sibling board accessories here in this article, read it to know more.

Still, you can always take a baby carrier or a wrap when going hiking in harsh terrain, putting the kiddy board upwards to not have it in your way. Sturdiness-wise, this stroller should be able to withstand it generally, so you should be fine. Again, as I said higher up, the driving of the City Elite2 is very nice, but yes, it is a larger pushchair; still, after putting the handle lower, you should have a pleasant enough steering experience. Be ready that it will be harder with the board for the sibling and always a bit of a struggle.

Otherwise, I have no better suggestions for an all-terrain stroller (I'd say check the Thule Urban Glide 2, but it is less sturdy so less suitable for a buggy board, IMHO); this is actually very, very nice stroller just count on it being larger, as an all.-terrain stroller should be. Also count on the properties changing with kiddy rides, unfortunately. But a 2yo should not need investment into a double stroller, I think, if you think about a hop-on board only.

Hello…

Very interested in this stroller but I want to be sure it’s ok for jogging? I know it’s not Baby Jogger’s actual jogging stroller, but the size of the Summit x3 won’t work in our lift. I’m not an intense runner, but I do want to be able to jog on paved surfaces with this stroller.

Thank you!

Hi, Molly,

If not a professional or intense everyday runner, I do think that you'll be fine with the Baby Jogger City Elite 2 for jogging, yes. It's actually quite sturdy and stable even when you run with it, and as a three-wheeled stroller with swivel wheels, it's actually rather nice. If needing something shorter, I would definitely get a City Elite 2 as well (I actually heard a few mums say they run with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 as well, and that is even less suitable for that).

If I should suggest a different model just for inspiration, the Casualplay LOOPi Running is also a great thing to consider. As you can also buy EVA foam or air-filled tires and make it a four-wheeler for normal, daily use, and then click on the Running three-wheeled chassis and go running with an actual fixed-wheel three-wheeler, it's quite an interesting (and not too expensive) running + everyday option as well.
