Kinderkraft Prime

The ultra-affordable, oval-shaped Polish system
.eli
see 5 parent reviews

The Kinderkraft Prime is an all-terrain, modern stroller system. Thanks to the air-filled wheels and a dual suspension system located on the chassis, the Prime offers a smooth ride even over uneven surfaces. Other advantages include the adjustable handlebar and the accessible, relatively spacious shopping basket.

The backrest and the leg rest of the reversible seat unit can be reclined flat. You can put your newborn into the included carrycot. The mattress of the carrycot can be inclined for an older baby (or for a baby suffering reflux). Using adapters (part of the Prime package), the Prime is compatible with other well-known car seat brands with Maxi-Cosi-type of attachments. The stroller comes with a rain cover, an apron, a changing bag, and an air pump included.

  • price-performance ratio
  • accessories included
  • large, comfy bassinet
  • squeaks often - needs oiling
  • on the bulky side

A cheaper pram that started to squeak now and then, but for the price, the performance is very nice. A comfy bassinet and accessories included are a huge plus.

  • Easy pushing it
  • Lightweight chassis
  • Deep carrycot, ideal for winter
  • The carrycot apron can be opened up to the top of the hood - great in the cold or bad weather
  • Water-proof materials
  • I would like it if the basket could be zipped closed

Absolute satisfaction for an excellent price.

  • thick textiles
  • feels solid-built, robust in your hand (a great plus mainly for daddies)
  • stylish, elegant design
  • nice for bumpy roads - large wheels
  • bug basket for any shopping needs
  • good value for money
  • I am unsure about the safety of the car seat since I found no testing info about it online (and no Isofix there either)
  • short leg rest of the seat unit
  • I would like some more padding in the seat, and more harness regulation options
  • a bit noisy front wheels on very uneven surfaces

You get what you pay for - it's not the most luxurious, features-packed pram, but it's very nice for the price. It's lightweight, and with a bassinet style I prefer design-wise (I love these more robust, oval-shaped bassinets). The seat unit is not the biggest space-wise, but it's enough for the time we plan to use this pram (around 1.5 years). Overall, nice value for money and I can recommend it.

  • beautiful
  • affordable
  • 3in1 system with so much included
  • I found none so far (maybe a bit bulky?)

My baby is due in August, so I haven't tried it yet with a baby inside, but it feels great in my hand, it looks gorgeous - just as pretty as more expensive options like Venicci or Babystyle, but so much more affordable! Happy with the purchase <3

One of the cheaper stroller systems

3
  • Easy handling
  • Quick fold and unfold
  • Quality, waterproof material
  • Large basket
  • Large wheels with air-filled tires
  • Even though it features air-filled wheels, it is not the most suitable model for rougher terrain - the front wheels rattle a bit on uneven surfaces (there is a will in the space they get clicked in the chassis)

Its one of the cheaper stroller systems - and that had to manifest somewhere.

Your questions about the Kinderkraft Prime

1)

Hi

Do you know the seat dimensions for this please? Also is it the same seat on all 3 prime models?

Ideally looking for a lie-flat pushchair with a pivoting handlebar, ok suspension (mainly urban use, occasional woodland walks, so it doesn't need to be completely all terrain), and a good seat size and basket. I've looked at the ABC Design Salsa 4, but the telescopic handle is just a little too high on the lowest setting (100cm).

From what I have found so far none of my local pram/baby shops have the kinderkraft models for me to view.

Many thanks

Nora

Hey, Nora,

The seating (where the baby has its bum) would be about 34x21,5, and the backrest is about 45 cm. Tjose are the dimensions I have - and the seat is, roughly, the same on all models, yes.

Honestly, though, the quality is very basic, and compared to the Salsa, I think this is the inferior model. I personally would definitely go for the Salsa between the two, so sorry for my honestly - but it is roomier (seat and carrycot-wise), sturdier, and with better wheels in my opinion. 100cm of handle height is, normally, rather ok for 155-165cm tall parents (from my experience) - not sure how tall you are.

How do I unlock the wheels at the front so they swivel?

Hey, Soph,

In the picture I screenshot from the KK Prime's manual, it is the thing that is marked with a 10. You need to slide the levers over both front wheels to either lock or the other way around unlock the wheels from fixed to swiveling mode.

Can we keep it hand-carry when we travel internationally?

Hey, Frances,

No, unfortunately you cannot. This stroller is much larger than the carry-on requirements. You will need to dig into the baby luggage option, which allows you to take the pram up to the place, then it will be taken away by the stewards, and returned to you after landing - or you'll have to check it in.

Hello again,

I know that our car seat does not come with a base. My question is, if I want to buy an isofix base, which Isofix base should I choose for the default car seat which comes with the Prime 3in1?

If maxi-cosi or cybex, which size or model would fit? if you don't know, where can I check this information?

Thanks
Angie

Hey Again, Angie,

There were MULTIPLE car seats sold with this stroller. You need to check which car seat model you personally have, and get an Isofix base for that car seat. I cannot guess which one you have, unfortunately.

If it's a Cybex or Maxi-Cosi, you should have it written on the capsule somewhere. They you have to find the base suitable for that car seat (there's usually on ly 1 for a car seat, so that should not be too hard). If it's their own, no-brand car seat issued for cheap with this model, no writing whatsoever on it, there is no base available for that one, and you will have to belt it in your car with just the belt, no base.

Hello,
We have the kinderkraft prime 3in1.
Is the car seat with isofix or not?
If yes, please provide me with the model I should be looking for.

Thank you

HI, Angie,

The Prime is normally not provided with an Isofix base. It of course depends on on the set you bought it in and the car seat that that particular seller put in the set, however the Kinderkraft Prime's cheaper dedicated car seat normally doesn't come with a base. There are Maxi-Cosi-style car xeat adapters available though, and with most branded car seats you can get an Isofix base (usually optionally, and the type of the base depends on the car seat chosen).

Remember: Always pick the base for the car seat, not the stroller!

Hi,
I would like to buy the Kinderkraft Prime Lite 2 in 1. y question is: will my Maxi Cosi car seat fit with the adapter that comes with the pram?

Hi, Bianca,

Yes, the adpater that normally comes with the pram, a kind of U-shaped attachment on it, is a Maxi-Cosi/Cybex car seat adapter, and it will accommodate a Maxi-Cosi car seat.

Can the Kindercraft Prime stroller be used in sitting position?

Hi, Sharmila,

I am not sure what you mean, but if I understand it right - if the seat can be put in a sitting position, then yes, facing both parents as well as the street, you can put your baby to a sit. However, the sitting position is not completely, 90-degree upright; it is slightly (not too much) slanted, so don't expect a complete right angle.

Hello,

I would like to ask if the Xmoov baby seat can be fixed on which type of base? Since buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt during rainy season is a bit uncomfortable 😬 thank you

HI, Kaysar,

If you're talking about the seat unit, like the sitting part of the stroller, there is no base I know of that would be available.

The car seat, on the other hand, has each type a different base (and some have no base at all), so without the type of the car seat, I cannot really tell you which base - try to check for the car seat brand and model name and let me know.

Hi,

I've got the Kinderkraft prime but having difficulty to maneuver due to front wheels which is most of time hang, how to fix it?

Hi, Ahmad,

Hang in terms of being loose in their points? If so, there are just two things I can recommend - first is to claim your warranty, as something is not working right. The second thing to try at home are small sealing rubber bands which can be bought in a maintenance shop, and put these in between the wheel and the axle - in the joint. That should help the looseness and help with the smoothness of push.

How well does the Kinderkraft Prime perform in regards to strolling in snow during the winter?

Hi, Chrisie,

Well, it does have larger wheels so it can go over some for sure. There are holes between the wheel and the joint, meaning with a LOT of snow, you might nd up pulling it behind you, but this is normal with pretty much any stroller - I mean, sand and snow are two of the largest stroller enemies. So, it will perform reasonably well, though don't expect miracles.

In general, for strollers vs. snow, the "the larger wheels the better" applies.
