Your questions about the Mothercare Genie

1)

What car seat adaptors fit please?

Hey, Mel,

You will only be able to attach the original Mothercare Genie adapters. They are, as I noticed, not available as much, so I recommend searching on eBay where these are still possible to be found.

2)

What age do you recommend to convert from pushchair position to buggy position?

Hi there,

Usually, the conversion happens somewhere around 6 months of age of the child. It is, however, highly subjective - the best it to change it at the time the baby starts sitting by itself, without help*, which is completely normal to happen around 9-10-11 months when the parents aren't helping (which is, actually, a harmful practice). I personally would convert the lie-flat position to the seat unit position when I would the baby unhappy in that position, and/or when it sits by itself, not sooner. If your baby cries a lot in the pram even sooner, around 5 months you can convert the carrycot to the sitting part but only use it in the fully reclined position, especially if the baby cannot sit**.

Read more about when to pass from a bassinet to the seat unit/buggy in this article I wrote about that topic to know more.

3)

Do both seats on a Mother care Genie recline?
Thank you

Hey, Kerry,

I am not sure what you mean by both seats. You only have one part that clicks on the chassis, which is the bassinet (lie-flat part) which, in theory, CAN recline but it would make your child slide down... You can, however, slightly incline it in case of your baby suffering from reflux.

And then you have the reversible seat unit which, YES, reclines in BOTH ways - parent-facing and forward-facing.

I hope my answer was clear enough ^_^

4)

Hello,

I just need to buy a new carrycot for the Mothercare Genie stroller because the one I have is very old now. Do you know if any carrycot can fit on it?

Thank you

Hello, Fatima,

I don't think there is a different bassinet style, no. Each model has its own attachment system (yes, there are a few in the world with the same attachment points, but not too many) – but, to add to that, the frame is made for that particular bassinet or seat so that the center of gravity and push would be ok, without falling over or to the side. That is why you shouldn't put a different carrycot on this pram - you can either try and ask Mothercare's customer service to order the part for you, or buy a used, cheap Genie model for parts (using the carrycot from there).

I say it straightforward like this because your baby's safety is at stake, so for sure don't experiment with your pram and different attachments. It could fall down at some moment, hurting the baby inside.
